eureka timberline tents

This Eureka tents model comes is 3 different sizes including the popular Eureka Timberline 4 person tent and two styles.

We would be wrong to doubt that these Eureka tents have no credibility after being on the market for approx 30 yrs. The main point to consider is will they meet your camping needs? and will they protect campers from the elements?

These are the available sizes:
  • Timberline 2 Person Tent
  • Timberline 4 person Tent
  • Timberline Outfitter 6 Person Tent
  • Timberline 2 Person SQ 2XT Tent
  • Timberline 4 Person SQ 4XT Tent

The A-frame is the classic way tents were built, now tents come in many styles and designs. The Eureka Timberline tents are known as the sturdy no-nonsense design.

Sturdy and reliable in most weather conditions, whilst being easy to set up. Can be used without the fly as a basic shelter for hot weather camping, like most freestanding designs.

Consumers report these tents last for many years, and ease of replacement parts available from Eureka is helpful.

Disadvantages

The A-frame design restricts room at height, upper tent becomes narrow which means shoulder room becomes restricted compared to other designs. Also, the vestibule has to be bought separately.

Many tents are now available that only use two tent poles for ease of setting up, unlike the Eureka Timbeline Tents 5 pole structure. Although, still easy enough.

  • Weight: 18 pounds, 8 ounces

Suitable For: Car Camping, Base Camp, Family Camping

This Eureka Timberline outfitter has two needed doors, for easier access and is made with stronger materials compared to the 2 and 4 person tents above.

Like all Eureka Timberline tents its easy to set up, but also allows room to stand up. This is where you would start to weigh up the advantages of a cabin style or dome tent against the outfitter for room and other features.

These are a choice for many that like wilderness camping within the 3 seasons its rated for. If you are a family that camps out during the summer 2 to 3 times a year, you may find the Eureka Copper Canyon tents that have screened rooms or other tent models suit you better.

Sleeping 4-5 for comfort and a squeeze at 6. Plenty of room for a cot and/or air mattress, although gear storage will also be required.

Eureka Timberline SQ 2XT Tent and SQ 4XT

The Timberline SQ 4XT and SQ 2XT have an attached vestibule for storage (half vestibule), and two doors instead of one, making access easier. These are designed with the SQ Hub that has increased the strength, stability and livability.

The livability aspect has been improved by adding a mid span spreader pole that offers users more shoulder width, that was a disadvantage with the classic version and other A-frame style tents. Basically the upper section of the tent has become expanded.

The DAC aluminum poles are also better quality, than the standard aluminium. The added durability of these eureka timberline tents has also added approximately an extra 1lb weight.

These are newer models introduced by Eureka that makes it interesting to see how they will perform against other tent designs. The strengthened design comes at extra costs.
