The popular Eureka Copper Canyon tent reviewed, to help you decide if these reasonably priced cabin style family tents are suitable for your family camping needs

The Eureka Copper Canyon is amongst the best family camping tents for the price.

We describe what makes this Eureka Tent a choice for many family campers.

However, all major tent brands have tents that will be suitable for someones camping needs, but unable to fulfill another's. This guide is here to help with your decision making.

The Eureka Copper Canyon Tents Available:
  • Eureka Copper Canyon 10: Four To Five-Person, 10-Foot by 10-Foot
  • Eureka Copper Canyon 1312: Eight-Person, 13-Foot by 12-Foot
  • Eureka Copper Canyon 1512: Twelve-Person 15-Foot by 12-Foot
  • Eureka Copper Canyon 1610: Tent Six-Person, 16 by 10-Feet

The basics for all sizes.
  • 3 Season, Cabin Style Tents.
  • Mesh screens for protection against bugs whilst providing good ventilation.
  • Bath tub floor design, allowing floor to come up from the ground for weather protection.
  • Includes pockets for storing storm guyouts when not in use.
  • Factory-taped major seams to seal out weather.
  • Combination steel/fiberglass frame (poles) with clips, pole sleeves, and ring "n" pin assembly, making set up easy.

All the eureka copper canyon models provide sufficient room. The vertical walls allow the upper half of the tent to provide the maximum room and height a tent can offer.

The freestanding style allows easy set up. This style also enables a tent to be positioned better or moved slightly to find the best spot before staking.

All are suitable for recreational camping, and those that prefer good head room that most dome tents are unable to provide. The eureka family tent is also an affordable option.

eureka copper canyon Design/Features/Spec

  • * 100-square-foot tent holds 4-5 campers
  • * D-shaped door; four large windows; center height of 7 ft
  • * Fly shades front, rear windows; clear-panel skylights
  • * Six steel and fiberglass poles; weighs 23 lbs, 6 oz

This eureka tent sleeps, four to five. We would advise 4 adults max, 2 adults and two children will provide plenty of room. This is the smallest of the copper canyon range, that has only one room.

Like the other models the vertical walls allow plenty of room for cots and ease of movement; Also, access in and out of the tent becuase of the substantial height at 7ft is a feature many familys appreciate.

The four large zippered mesh windows open for visibility and four-way air flow that can also be closed for privacy. The toggles provided keeps the window flaps off the floor and out of the way. A fly with clear panel skylights permits stargazing.

A port allows an extension cord (not included) to be run into the tent. A sweep-out point facilitates housekeeping. A hanging gear-loft supplies convenient storage for small items.

One of the usual complaints is the tent stakes being rubbish.

For a small family on a budget of about $240, this eureka copper canyon tent is a good option. Very roomy, great ventilation and ease of setting up is what attracts many to these tents.

eureka copper canyon tents Design/Features/Spec
  • * 156-square-foot 8 Person Tent; center height of 7'-3"
  • * Removable curtain can create two rooms
  • * D-shaped doors permit private entry into each room; six large windows
  • * Detachable awning shades front; clear-panel skylights for stargazing
  • * Nine steel and fiberglass poles; weighs 37 lbs
  • This tent includes a removable curtain to make a divider for two rooms as well as being configured as a single room.

A couple of consumers have commented on the how the divider curtain should be less see through and have a zipper for more privacy. It divides, but does not provide visual privacy if needed. However, if camping with very small children you may not want the kids out of sight.

The awning is helpful for providing shade on a lovely summers day, although we would see this as an added extra that many campers would not use.

This eureka copper canyon tent is one of the most popular due to the capacity being suitable for camping 8 people or less that covers most family sizes.

It seems to be worth investing a little more for this tent or the copper canyon 1512 compared to the canyon 10 for the extra space, at an extra cost of $80-$100.

    Eureka Copper Canyon 1512: Twelve-Person 15-Foot by 12-Foot

    Design/Features/Spec

    • * 180-square-foot 12 person tent; center height of 7ft - 4 inches
    • * Removable curtain can create two rooms
    • * D-shaped doors permit private entry into each room; six large windows
    • * Detachable awning shades front; clear-panel skylights for stargazing
    • * Nine steel and fiberglass poles; weighs 39 lbs, 8 oz

The only reason to buy the eureka copper canyon 1512 would be for the extra capacity (room), otherwise this tent has the same features as the 1312.

This is priced at approximately $350. Not much more than the 1312, however if the extra space is unnecessary the 1312 would probably be the best option.

    eureka copper canyon
    Design/Features/Spec

    • * 160 - square foot 6 Person Tent, center height 7 foot 3 inches
    • * 80-square-foot sleeping room and second screened room
    • * 80-square-foot screen room
    • * Combination steel and fiberglass poles; weighs 36lb 3oz, zippered E! Power port

Be aware, if purchasing the 1610 copper canyon tent, that the screened room is without a floor.

This room is not intended for sleeping, but as a living room or lounge. You are able to bring your own suitable flooring, be it a carpet, rug or any other suitable materials, if desired.

Still as spacious as the other models the 1610 would be for a small family of 6 or less that want a room used for living separate.

If you want the extra sleeping room then the 1512 or 1312 would be the better option.
